DIY- Revamp an Old Desk

I'm all about 'do it yourself' projects. I love painting and figuring out how I am going to revamp older furniture. Awhile ago I completed refurbished an old vintage chair. I find projects like this very fun and relaxing for myself. I was more than excited to revamp this old desk that had just been sitting around in a storage closet for who knows how long. Also this is by far one of the easiest DIY's I've done in a while.

All I did was roughly sand the entire desk.
Then, I painted three different layers of paint (first layer, a pale blue, second a creamy white, third a very pale grey).

After that I was basically done. Just added some final touches like little decorative items such as these little maps, a glass jar for my pens, a push pin board with some cute push pins and a basket.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Yes, it's FALL. My favorite season (just like everyone else). But seriously, Fall is the best. From the pumpkin everything to the red and gold leaves, ahhh it just gets me every time. Wrap me up in a blanket with a pumpkin spice latte and a pumpkin cinnamon scented candle and I am good to go! Alright, enough about that, how adorable are these leggings! They have a little flower print and the best part is they feel a bit more structured than a legging but still extra cozy. I think these leggings would look very cute with a grey boyfriend tee and some nude flats and a messy bun for an extra laid back but put together look as well. Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday. Half way until the weekend.

Easy Breakfast

Lately, I've been loving preparing my meals the night before so I can grab and go in the morning. My current favorite routine is cutting up a few of my favorite fruits and putting them in a mason jar so when I'm on the go, I can grab it and run out of the door. I rotate what fruits I'm craving for the week and it's been pretty delicious. Not to mention it looks pretty cute and rustic chic in my little mason jar! Here are some pictures showing what I like to do. It's very easy.

First I grab some blueberries, strawberries and a green apple. I cut them all up and then I layer them. I've been putting the strawberries on the bottom because I love to eat them last, since strawberries are my favorite fruit. Then I add the green apple and lastly the blueberries but you can do any order or even mix them all in together and make a true fruit salad. Afterwards, I squeeze some lemon juice over the top so the apple doesn't brown over night and then I seal it and stick it in the fridge! So simple! I hope you enjoy this as much as I have!

June Gloom

I LOVE a good sweater. When shopping, it doesn't matter the time of year I will always gravitate toward sweaters. Since it is summer and no where near cold, I picked up a light white sweater for the mornings, nights and days at the beach where it just doesn't feel completely comfortable bearing just that light summer dress! Anthropologie makes some of my favorite sweaters of all time. They know how to make a sweater so cozy yet fashionable at the same time. I'm a sucker for them every time!

Also, the Anthropologie summer tag sale is going on now! You can pick up some of your favorite styles for up to 50% off! Happy shopping!

The First Day of Summer

My husband and I spent the first day of summer at the annual Lavender Festival near our home. It was a beautiful day spent wondering the lavender fields, picking up fresh batches of lavender and drinking lavender green iced tea to keep cool in the scorching heat. I look forward to this event each year because it feels like the perfect way to ring in the first day of the summer. Also, lavender is one of my all time favorite smells, flower, color, etc. I load up on anything lavender I can get my hands on.  As it was the first day of summer it was also VERY hot (what's new Southern California) so I threw on my lightest dress and a pair of sandals to try and beat the heat. I LOVE casual dresses that can be thrown on with some neutral sandals for an effortlessly put together look. Light and breezy is the only way to go as it is only going to get hotter here on out!

Outside

Jimmie and I love to spend our free time outdoors. Whether it's walking to a nearby cafe or strolling along the shoreline of our favorite lake with our dog, you will always find us outdoors. The weather was ideal this past weekend up at our favorite spot. I love it when there is a tiny bit of chill in the air so I can throw a sweater on and feel perfect.

Add Some Color

Lush Dress/Steve Madden Shoes/Francescas necklace

I tend to get in this rut of wearing neutrals, especially once fall and winter are in full effect (though we didn't get much of a winter this year). So I'm pulling out my most fun and colorful pieces. I love the color and the tiny print on this dress. It can be dressed up with a pair of heels/wedges or dressed down for a more casual look with a pair of nude oxfords. I opted for wearing these floral heeled/wedges which are seriously the most comfortable pair I own!
